NEW YORK— The league office released official dates for the 2026 27 campaign. The New York Knicks‘ schedule brings a clear divide between two halves of the season.
New York will host the Philadelphia 76ers on ring night, starting what many around the team hope will be a successful title defense. League office planners handed the franchise 13 back to back sets. That mark ties 11 teams for the lowest total across basketball. Just two of those sets occur in different time zones. The roster will also play the dreaded “three games in four nights” 17 times. Those totals are among the least in the NBA. Also, the total Knicks travel mileage is the least in the league bar the Toronto Raptors.
Home Sweet MSG Second Half
The schedule offers rest opportunities during the sprint to April. New York plays a front loaded road slate before the calendar flips. The squad completes over half of its 40 road games through Game 38.
From January 14 to February 1, the squad leaves state lines one single time for a trip to Atlanta. The calendar includes a four game Madison Square Garden home stand coming out of the All Star break. Another four game home stand highlights the spring run. Players receive ample time to recharge before playoff action begins.
Gauntlet Before The Holidays

The opening stretch presents steep challenges for the roster. The first 18 games contain 11 matchups against top Eastern Conference contenders. New York plays Cleveland in three games, Philadelphia in two games, Indiana in two games, Toronto in two games, Detroit in one game, and Boston in one game. Six of these 11 matchups occur on the road. Two home contests fall on the second night of back to back sets.
A brutal stretch from December 1 to December 21 contains zero home dates. One or two home games could be added to this stretch depending on the results from NBA Cup group play. Without tournament adjustments, the team plays on the road for three full weeks. Following a three game holiday home run featuring a Christmas game against San Antonio, the team embarks on a six game Western trip.
Navigating The Defense
Mike Brown must manage the rotation to preserve the starters through December travel. Managing the Knicks’ schedule requires strategic minutes distribution from the bench unit. The low travel mileage will help protect health during the winter months. The Knicks’ schedule demands focus during early road tests before unlocking its second half advantages.
